Keith's Story
Stewarts Law LLP, who specialise in clinical negligence litigation claims, was instructed by Keith following a life changing road traffic incident.
The incident left Keith with spinal injuries and as a wheelchair user.
As part of the claim, it was evident that Keith needed a more suitable, adapted property which could meet his requirements.
At the time of Keith’s injury, he was living in a detached property where he found it challenging to manoeuvre around due and had limited access to room in the property.

Our Property Finding team set straight to searching for a rental property which would offer Keith suitable temporary accommodation. The y also started the search for the perfect property for him to purchase and adapt as his forever home.
A detached bungalow was secured. It needed minor adaptations and this meant that Keith was able to access all areas. Small adaptations such as door widening, and installation of a wet room were carried out.
Seeing the potential of a property
Now that Keith was in suitable temporary accommodation, our focus changed to finding the purchase property.
This needed to provide sufficient space for Keith, including being able to have his grandchildren to stay and for them all to enjoy family time.
Keith wanted to be able to manoeuvre easily around his home and most importantly independently.
It also needed a garage for his much loved adapted pride and joy, his Harley Davidson Trike.
We secured a property in Bristol which needed modernisation and provided the opportunity to extend.
We built a large two-storey extension to the side and installed a lift to allow Keith to access all areas. The new upstairs bedroom included an ensuite wet-room and level threshold access were created throughout the property.
The property was also designed so that hoists could be easily installation in the future, if needed.
Keith explained ‘I need a home that is just right to scoot around in, a place where I can access all areas. I am looking forward to returning to normality.’
After managing the design and planning process and the contractors onsite, the construction progressed well. The outcome of the property speaks for itself.

Keith and his wife moved have into their new home. They can now begin adding their personal final touches, including the Harley Davidson plaque which we gave to Keith for his ‘man cave’ on handover for his garage to sit with his pride and joy!
It is great to see Keith enjoying his home, being able to access all areas of the home and spending time with his family.
