Designing the perfect accessible property

PLG Consultants is home to a team of 9 highly skilled and professionally trained Architects and Architectural Designers who are all experts in accessible design. Creating a safe haven for people with disabilities through thoughtful design and comfort are just as important as clinical needs. It’s why we offer a full architectural service for all building projects, whether it’s constructing a new building or adapting an existing property.

We take care of everyone and every part of the process—from planning and project management to construction and post-completion works.

Making plans

Our architectural team begin work as soon as possible in the purchase phase. This gives us a greater understanding of what’s required and provides much needed continuity during design and build.

As part of this, we present scaled drawings before they are submitted for planning approval.

Once everyone is happy with the proposals our planning application team get to work. A huge amount is invested into this stage and working closely with the planners is an integral part, but not the only element, of what we do.

The investment of time, effort and thought put into this stage is one of the main reasons why, since launching in 2012, we have made a multitude of applications and achieved a 100% success rate.

That’s something to be proud of, and we are!

project management

The injured person’s needs are at the heart of everything we do. We consider their family, clinical needs, care regime, and legal obligations to ensure their forever home meets all the necessary requirements.

This includes arranging site meetings with the planning teams and involving all stakeholders from the outset. It’s vital they understand that any adaptations are intended to restore the individual’s quality of life—rather than to increase the value of the property—which ensures we can get the best possible result.

The preparation of the comprehensive set of tender documents sometimes takes a little time but the investment of such here, and very frequently funds, can often be proportionately saved elsewhere.

Experienced architects at your service

Building projects can be complex because there are so many variables…everything from adverse weather conditions to delays in materials can have an impact. When things don’t go exactly to plan, the experience of our architectural team means we’ll come up with a solution, and we’ll work tirelessly to make things happen.

Everyone at PLG is an experienced professional who understands the significance of handover day. Invariably it is the end of a journey that had traumatic beginnings, so we are committed to ensuring that its destination is a happy and satisfying one where our family finally have a place to call home.
