WELCOME TO PLG PERSPECTIVES – NOVEMBER 2025

NEW INSTRUCTIONS

A month of new October instructions as we ventured the highways and byways of the UK.

Don't let winter move in - vacant properties

DON’T LET WINTER MOVE IN

Vacant properties require careful, consistent attention to prevent deterioration, maintain value and ensure readiness for occupancy. And with winter moving in, the chances of things going wrong heighten. But there might be a more pressing issue to deal with – compliance. Many insurers won’t cover an unoccupied property (typically over 30 days) without a specialist policy in place. And if they do, can you be sure you’re meeting their policy conditions?

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN WE HAND OVER THE KEYS?

As a solicitor, Ian Cohen has spent much of his career working with individuals affected by clinical negligence, as well as their families. During October, we saw the third and final article published by Ian that covers the journey we follow in supporting claimants through the process of accommodation. This one covers what happens not only in successfully handing over the keys of a forever home but the work we do beyond this point.

OUT AND ABOUT

We were out in force during October, enjoying some wonderful events and catching up with industry friends, old and new at the SIA Rebuilding Lives Conference in Milton Keynes, Be The Ladder Awards in London, the inaugural PDF NextGen COP Professionals networking event in London and the final ever CBIT AGloha, which went with the kind of bang we all intended (not to mention the PLG after party!).

WHAT’S IN THE DIARY?

Lots to look forward to in November with a very busy month ahead. We will of course be busy on the various projects happening around our fair isle, but most specifically, you can catch us in person at:

  • Nov 6th: Gunpowder Ball, London – look out for more PLG after partying at Little Italy in Soho.
  • November 7th: CBIT JMW Eat Drink and Be Giving Lunch, Manchester.
  • November 13th: WonderLAN Ball, Newcastle.
  • November 20th: Community Case Management Conference, London.
  • 26th – 27th November: a speaker slot at The OT Show, Birmingham NEC.

IAN COHEN MAKES A WELCOME RETURN

After some time away from his PLG blogging commitments, Ian made a welcome return with not one, but two Cohen’s Comments. As a solicitor, Ian spent much of his career working with individuals affected by clinical negligence, as well as their families. Ian is a consultant to legal firms and still very much involved in the industry, so understands what solicitors need when working on such complex cases. This month, he’s taken us on a journey through the litigation process in relation to the accommodation head of damage, describing what it is that a solicitor should be doing and what they value the most from PLG’s service portfolio.

OUT AND ABOUT

We represented PLG at various events during September. With time off over summer, conferencing season kicked back in for us at the PDF Conference. We saw lots of industry friends over at the NEC. More was to follow the very next day as we hosted a table at the highly inspiring CMSUK Awards in London. Finally, the marketing team took to the road with a trip to the Devon office for a great planning session with the Property Finding team (and a few drinks of course!).
