Sandy’s Journey to a Dream Home
“Wow, this is my house!” exclaimed Sandy when she first saw her new home completed. It was an emotional journey for all involved, marked by “blood, sweat, and tears” to get everything just right.
Misdiagnosed meningitis led to delays that resulted in double amputation, cognitive impairment, and additional injuries. Despite these challenges, Sandy remained fiercely independent and determined to have a home she could call her own.

Finding a Rental Property for Sandy
PLG first became involved when Sandy was seven months pregnant and living in a one-bedroom flat. It was urgent to find a suitable rental property where she could settle before the arrival of her baby. Glenn Hotchin, Director at PLG, has been with Sandy throughout the journey:

The Solution
Finding and Adapting Sandy’s Forever Home
Once Sandy had moved into the rental property, the search for her permanent home began. Her forever home was eventually found, located close to all local amenities. The existing property on the site was demolished, and Sandy’s dream home was built from the ground up. She was actively involved in every stage of the planning and building process.

“Sandy had such a clear vision of the home she wanted to create. She was keen to be part of the team with us and the contractors to see this project through to completion, even against the backdrop of Covid. She’s a remarkable lady!”
The Result
The Perfect Family Home
Sandy has been able to create the perfect family home from scratch, accommodating her specific needs and providing her with the independence she desired. Six months ago, she cut the ribbon on her beautiful new home. As she said on the handover day, “What’s not to like about it?”
