Designed to Help You Thrive

Once instructed by the legal team or client, we commence the architectural work as early as possible during the purchase process. We place great importance on building a relationship with our clients, their families, and legal teams. This allows us to gain a deeper understanding of the client’s requirements and ensures continuity during the design and build phases. We also ensure that each client’s personal preferences and tastes are considered.

Whether our client is football mad or simply loves fuchsia pink, it’s important that each home we design reflects the client’s personality, as well as having the necessary adaptations to enable them to thrive.

We present drawings to the client and their legal and care teams before submitting them for planning approval. These drawings ensure we have achieved the correct designs for everyone involved. Once approved, the planning application process begins. We spend considerable time liaising with planners to ensure each application has the best chance of success. Given this level of preparation, it’s no surprise that we’re immensely proud of our 100% success record!

Restoring Quality of Life

It’s vital for us that everyone understands the purpose of the build is to restore an individual’s quality of life quickly. This is why we take responsibility for all aspects of architectural design and building works.

We prepare a comprehensive set of tender documents and request tender estimates from five different contractors. This allows us to confidently inform the client’s team of the investment needed to successfully meet the requested adaptations and the timeframes involved in the development.

Every one of our PLG architects has experience in delivering and managing projects on-site. We arrange monthly site meetings with contractors to check on progress and regularly meet with the multidisciplinary teams.

We involve all stakeholders from the outset and provide weekly status updates on progress. We understand the significance of handing over a home, which is why we work tirelessly to keep the project on schedule and within budget while protecting the client’s interests.

Architectural Services Process

  • Developing a Brief: We collaborate with the client, legal team, and stakeholders to create a brief that addresses immediate and future needs.
  • Design Work: Based on the brief, we begin designing adaptations, extensions, or new builds.
  • Planning Permission: We complete technical design drawings and apply for planning permission when required.
  • Sourcing Contractors: We source and appoint the most suitable contractor by inviting tenders and evaluating them against project requirements.
  • Preparation of Specifications: After contractor selection, we prepare detailed specifications and a schedule of works.
  • Contract Administration: We handle all documentation and administrative tasks.
  • Building Inspection: We monitor and oversee the project build with detailed weekly updates.
  • Handover: Upon completion, we organise a handover after a thorough clean, ensuring the home is ready for occupancy.
  • Post-completion Works: We address any minor snagging issues promptly to ensure the home is perfect.

As a Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) Accredited Architectural Practice, we follow the RIBA Plan of Work (Stages 0-7) to maintain a consistent and high-standard approach to project delivery. Our goal is to provide more than just a house—it’s a home where a new chapter begins.

We understand the challenging journey you face post-injury, and we’re here to help you begin the next chapter of your recovery. Contact our team today at hello@plg.uk or call us on 0333 577 0809.
