Property Design

Designing the perfect property

When creating a safe haven for people with disabilities, thoughtful design and comfort are just as important as clinical needs. It’s why we offer a full architectural adaptation service, taking care of everyone and every part of the process—from planning and contractor due diligence to construction and post-completion works.

Making plans

We begin work as soon as possible in the purchase phase. This gives us a greater understanding of what’s required and provides much needed continuity during design and build.

As part of this, we present scaled drawings before they are submitted for planning approval.

Once everyone is happy with the proposals our planning application team get to work. A huge amount is invested into this stage and working closely with the planners is an integral part, but not the only element, of what we do.

The investment of time, effort and thought put into this stage is one of the main reasons why, over the course of 9 years and a vast number of applications, we have a 100% success rate.

That’s something to be proud of, and we are!

Making progress

The injured person’s needs are at the heart of everything we do. We consider their family, clinical needs, care regime, and legal obligations to ensure their forever home meets all the necessary requirements.

This includes arranging site meetings with the planning teams and involving all stakeholders from the outset. It’s vital they understand that any adaptations are intended to restore the individual’s quality of life—rather than to increase the value of the property—which ensures we can get the best possible result.

The preparation of the comprehensive set of tender documents sometimes takes a little time but the investment of such here, and very frequently funds, can often be proportionately saved elsewhere.

Experienced architects at your service

It’s fair to say building projects are complex things that have many variables. And we all know that things sometimes don’t go according to plan. When they don’t, our vastly experienced team will generally have a solution that works, and we work tirelessly to make things happen.

Everyone at PLG is an experienced professional in their own right who understands the significance of handover day. Invariably it is the end of a journey that had traumatic beginnings, so we work hard to ensure that its destination is a happy and satisfying one where our family finally have a place to call home.
